Prof. Dinesh Singh, Former Vice Chancellor & Professor, Mathematics, University of Delhi, earned his Bachelor and Master Degree in Mathematics from St. Stephens College. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College of Sciences, Technology and Medicine, London, England. He has been awarded the Padma Shri-one of the highest civilian awards of the Government of India-by the President of India in 2014. He has been conferred honorary doctorates-for his work as a mathematician and an educationist-by the University of Edinburgh; the National University of Ireland, Cork; the University of Houston, Houston, USA and the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.
Prof. Dinesh is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Union Cabinet, Govt. of India and is an Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at University of Houston, U.S.A. He serves on the jury of the Jnanpith Award; one of India’s most prestigious literary awards.
