Pro Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University

Prof. Devinder Singh has been working as Pro Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Mohali for the last more than two years. Earlier, during his tenure of about 34 years at Punjabi University Patiala, Prof. Singh occupied various administrative positions like Registrar, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, Director Planning and Monitoring, Head of the Department, Chairman Biosafety Committee, member Institutional Animal Ethic Committee, member senate, Senior Warden Boys Hostels etc. He established the Intellectual Property Rights Cell at the university and remained its Coordinator for five years. Similarly, the cell for conduct of UGC NET was made functional at the University under his stewardship and the test involving more than 17000 students was conducted ten times in a row meticulously till it was outsourced to CBSE. Another significant contribution of Prof. Devinder Singh was setting up of Sophisticated Instruments Centre at the University and as founder Incharge of this Centre he was able to get huge grants from different government agencies for procuring costly equipment items including a Scanning Electron Microscope. The University also appointed him the Coordinator for the MHRD flagship programme National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
