Abu Imran, IAS Director- Higher Education, Govt. of Jharkhand
Abu Imran, an IAS of 2010 Batch, is at present Director-Higher Education, Govt. of Jharkhand (since June 2017). Earlier he had been selected for Indian Revenue Service in 2008, which he served till 2011. As an IAS, he served the Government in various capacities such as Joint Secretary-Home, Prison and Disaster Management from 2015 to 2017, and given additional charge of Civil Defence Commissioner.
He was District Magistrate of Ramgarh and SDO Latehar. He is a member Senate and Academic Council of 6 universities of Jharkhand like Ranchi University, Vinoba Bhave University etc, a Government nominee of IIM Ranchi, National Law University, Ranchi, and 8 Private Universities like Amity, Rai, AISECT, ARKA JAIN etc. And in Board of Governors of India’s 3rd Raksha Shakti University, Ranchi. Being an Alumnus of AMU with such stature, he was invited as Guest of Honour by AMU, Aligarh at World Alumni Meet-2017. He is a very eloquent speaker with command and authority over English, Hindi and Urdu.
His areas of interests are Welfare Administration, Social Welfare and Social Change, Education, Concern for Marginalized and Disadvantaged Section, Gender Issues and Empowerment, Community Participation in the democratic process, Employment and employability etc.
